Medical staff from Mongolia received certificates for observing a Post-graduate medical education program in Tokushima University Hospital.
On September 7th, 2018, three Medical staff from Mongolia who visited Tokushima University Hospital to observe a Post-graduate medical education program based on a JICA project (The Project for Strengthening Post-graduate Training for Health Professionals in Primary and Secondary Level Health Facilities) were given certificates from the JICA Shikoku Director, Mr. Kobayashi. The first Post-graduate medical education program (internal medicine, emergency service, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology) will be started in Mongolia this October receiving support from JICA. Tokushima University Hospital received a request from JICA to accept the visitation of medical staff from Mongolia. Currently, Tokushima University Hospital is cooperating in another JICA project (the Project for the Establishment of Hospital Management and Medical Services at the Mongolia-Japan Teaching Hospital).
We believe the collaboration of both projects will lead to the enhancement of medical systems in Mongolia and therefore, decided to accept the visitation of medical staff and introduce our post-graduate medical education program. During the two weeks, from August 27th to September 7th, three medical staff from Mongolia observed medical conference, doctors making “ward rounds” and examinations at the division of Hematology, the division of Cardiovascular Medicine, ICU, etc. In the debriefing session of the final day, they made a presentation and talked about what they learned through the visit, such as the importance and significance of the post-graduate medical education program.
